After buying my acoustic guitar, I thought I’d just download some lessons online and would be off and playing in no time. I quickly discovered that teaching myself was a lesson in frustration and it was a serious struggle to get beyond just plucking some strings. Needless to say, the guitar sat in its case for a few years. Much later, I met a friend who had a similar frustrating experience and we decided that we were going to find a teacher who would allow us to take lessons together. She found Sid’s ad and we’ve been going to him for about 8 months now…and unlike when I “taught” myself, I’ve been able to make great progress and have finally put this guitar to work! It’s been so enjoyable and relaxing to just pick up the guitar and sit on the sofa to play just for the enjoyment of it. I’ve had so much fun with it that I’ve also recently purchased an electric guitar. Thanks to Sid’s ability (and patience!) to explain and simplify ideas and techniques, I can now play melodies, chords, some blues, have learned some music theory along the way and now he’s teaching us to write our own licks. For the first time, I feel like being a good guitar player is within my reach. Sid is a very talented musician and a great teacher rolled into one!
